COVID 19

Scotland and Ireland

How will things look in Scotland and Ireland by this summer? Omicron is now waning in the UK and Ireland and, as such, restrictions are being removed. The UK government announced on January 24th that from 11 February no testing will be required to enter the country for fully vaccinated travelers. Non vaccinated travelers can now also enter the country without isolating. Details for each category are below.

Does that mean we are done with restrictions? This is something no one can predict at present. Covid is an evolving situation, but currently the golf industry in the UK and Ireland are looking forward to a normal season for 2022.

This does not mean that travel will be exactly as it was prior to Covid, but rather we will see adaptations in response to it. Masks may well be required in some restaurants, or there may still be more spacing between tables etc.

Are people vaccinated in the UK and Ireland? Scotland and Ireland both have high vaccination rates (above 93%), and they are looking froward to continuing to welcome overseas visitors to their shores. Indeed when travel opened up in August 2021, golfers from the USA traveled to the UK in record numbers. We ourselves had a number of groups who elected to travel and they did so safely, enjoying golf, restaurants and pubs.

Will I be able to have fun? Yes! Again, we had a number of groups who elected to travel and they did so safely, enjoying golf, restaurants and pubs.
