The Tee Sheet Vol. 16 – What To Pack For Your Golf Trip

A Comprehensive Guide on What to Pack for Your Golf Trip

Embarking on a golf trip is an exciting adventure for any golf enthusiast. Whether you’re headed to a championship course or exploring a hidden gem, proper preparation is key to ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. To help you make the most of your golfing getaway, we’ve compiled a comprehensive guide on what to pack for your golf trip.

Golf Gear:

a. Golf Clubs: Start with the essentials. Your clubs. Ensure they are in good condition and consider a travel bag for protection if you are happy to have them fly with you. You could use a specialized shipping firm, like our partners, ShipSticks, or if you would like to eliminate any mishaps due to delayed flights and lost luggage, most courses allow you to rent the latest clubs by the likes of Titleist and TaylorMade.

b. Golf Balls: Pack enough golf balls for your entire trip, considering the likelihood of losing some on the course, I know that happens to us. You can always pick these up on your travels.

c. Golf Glove: Bring a couple of golf gloves to ensure a good grip, especially if you’re playing in varying weather conditions. Precipitation has been known in the UK & Ireland.

d. Golf Shoes: Comfortable and appropriate golf shoes are a must. Waterproof shoes can be a game-changer if you’re expecting wet conditions. If your golf shoes can double up as your everyday wear you have hit packing guru level.

e. Golf Towel: Keep a golf towel handy to clean your clubs and hands during your round.

Apparel:

a. Golf Apparel: Pack enough golf shirts, shorts or pants, and comfortable socks for each day on the course. Consider the weather and pack layers accordingly. Some of our golfers have treated themselves to a new golf shirt at each course, saving them space on the arrival flight and picking up a souvenir in tow.

b. Rain Gear: Be prepared for unexpected weather changes with a waterproof jacket and pants. This is more likely to be used in the shoulder season April, September – October.

c. Sunglasses: Protect your eyes from the sun’s glare with a pair of golf-friendly sunglasses.

d. Sunscreen: A round of golf can mean several hours in the sun. Pack a high SPF sunscreen to protect your skin. Not all tan lines are cool

Accessories:

a. Golf Hat or Visor: Keep the sun out of your eyes and stay cool with a golf hat or visor.

b. Rangefinder or GPS Device: Improve your accuracy with a rangefinder or GPS device to measure distances on the course. If you have an app on your smartphone or smartwatch, this can reduce your packed items.

c. Golf Bag Essentials: Pack your bag with tees, ball markers, divot repair tool, and extra pencils for keeping score.

Personal Items:

a. Medication: If you take any medications, ensure you have an ample supply for the duration of your trip. Make sure this is in your carry on or personal item to avoid missing medication due to lost luggage.

b. Toiletries: Don’t forget your toothbrush, toothpaste, and other personal care items. But if you do, you are never far from a store.

c. First Aid Kit: A small first aid kit with essentials like band-aids, pain relievers, and blister pads can be handy, especially if you are showing off your new golf shoes.

Miscellaneous:

a. Snacks and Hydration: Stay energized on the course by packing a few healthy snacks and a reusable water bottle. These can be picked up in the country you travel to,  but if you want to pack your home comforts, go for it.

b. Entertainment: Bring a book, music, or any other form of entertainment for downtime between rounds.

c. Chargers and Electronics: Ensure your devices stay charged by packing chargers for your phone, GPS device, or any other electronics you bring. An international travel adapter is always great to have on you, you’ll also be the most popular in the group.

By packing thoughtfully and considering the specific needs of your golf trip, you can set the stage for an enjoyable and stress-free experience on the course. Remember to check the weather forecast, review the golf course’s specific requirements, and tailor your packing list accordingly. With the right gear in tow, you’ll be ready to tee off in style and make the most of your golfing adventure. Safe travels and low scores!
